History
In 1988, a small group of people from Overlake Christian Church began meeting together and praying for women who found themselves in unplanned pregnancy situations. They knew if they wanted to stand against abortion, there should be a place for those who wanted to choose life for their babies and needed support.
In 1989, in a little 900 sq. ft. house next to the main church building, we started support groups for pregnant women, single moms, and women choosing adoption. In 1990, we bought a five bedroom house in the Kingsgate area of Kirkland to start the residential part of the ministry. We outgrew that home sooner than expected and in 1993, we found our current facility. In less than a month, the congregation raised enough money for the six bedroom, multi-structure property and we moved in on May 28th 1993.
The impact this ministry has had on the lives of women and families over the years has been apparent. In one such case, it was especially transforming for a young woman, Michelle. When Michelle came to Special Delivery in 1989, she was five months pregnant. She was so thankful for the support she received at Special Delivery. Not too long after Michelle gave birth to her daughter, she knew God was calling her into ministry. Over the years she came back to volunteer at Special Delivery and eventually, with her five year old in tow, she became employed as the house manager. Michelle transitioned into the Administrative Assistant position and is now the full time Director of the Special Delivery Program. What an awesome and sovereign God to show his redemptive love and restoration to these young women by planting one of their own in the midst of their journey.

"I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten - the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm - My great army that I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will My people be shamed. Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other; never again will My people be shamed."
